For the next two weeks Micah Heath is counting down the Top 10 most valuable players in a keeper league. Never heard of a fantasy Premier League keeper league? The concept is simple – each season every manager in your draft league is allowed to designate a handful of players who will remain on their roster next season. Those players are never made available to the rest of the league during your draft for the next season.

Of course, there are myriad versions of draft keeper leagues (including draft FPL dynasty leagues where your entire roster is carried over from one season to the next with only a supplemental draft each summer). We have avoided the drama and asked Micah to focus mostly on value next season, but also weigh the long-term potential of each player. There will be one new player discussed each day – concluding with No. 1 on Friday March 24 and Micah appearing on the March 28 edition of Talkin Togga!

  1. Gabriel Jesus – Man City, Forward, Age 19

If you are in a keeper league and a Gabriel Jesus owner then you better retain his services or you will never have the chance again.  Jesus made quite the splash after joining Man City this past January before breaking his foot during Gameweek 25.

The young Brazilian made two starts prior to sustaining the foot injury.  In those two starts Jesus wowed the fantasy world by registering two goals, one assist, four shots on target, and four chances created.  In his limited action Jesus averaged 11.63 Points per Match or more appropriately 20.62 Points per 90 Minutes as two of his four appearances were 15 minutes are less.  Jesus initially found his way into Man City’s starting XI due to Sergio Aguero’s red card suspension.  During this time Jesus was also being selected ahead of Nolito and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Following Aguero’s return from suspension, Pep Guardiola continued to select Jesus ahead of the veteran Argentinian.  His departure would ensure a clear path to playing time for Jesus. As Aguero is still only 28 years old with his current contract expiring July 2019, if Man City want to sell Kun then this coming summer would be the ideal time to cash in.

Jesus can play up front or out wide, preferably from the left as he likes to cut in on his desired right foot.  Jesus recorded 12 goals and five assists over 28 appearances during his last season with Brazilian side Palmeiras.  Envisioning a full EPL season (approximately 2700 minutes) for Jesus I will predict 15 goals and eight assists for the 2017/2018 campaign.  There is no guarantee that Jesus finishes as a top 10 fantasy player next year, but at the age of 19 and with a contract that does not expire until 2021 I do foresee Jesus being one of the best fantasy options, especially among forwards, over the next few years.  Again, you can keep Jesus now or regret it later.
