Thank goodness for Fantasy Premier League.  On weekends when your team get smashed 3-0 (cough, cough Arsenal) then the triumphs of your fantasy team can soften the blow.  On Monday evening I was momentarily depressed following Arsenal’s poor performance.   As Togga scores were updated my mood quickly changed seeing that I pulled off a victory in my 12 team league for the fourth consecutive week on the back of solid performances from Eden Hazard, Jan Vertonghen, Luke Shaw, and Marcos Alonso (Arsenal’s fiercest rivals).  For anyone who supports a team other than Chelsea, continue to make some moves on your fantasy team to soften the blow of your team not hoisting the EPL silverware this season.

Four Up:

Phil Jagielka – Everton, Defender, Age 34, 55% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 10.5 Points (10.5 Avg. – 1 Game)

Gameweeks 29-32: 66.5 Points (16.63 Avg.)

Upcoming Games: BRN, @WHU, CHE, @SWA

Advice: Phil Jagielka has started Everton’s last five matches with injuries to Ramiro Funes Mori and Seamus Coleman.  During that span Jagielka has registered two goals, one assist, 18 aerials won, and 38 clearances.  As a team, Everton have scored 13 goals over those same five matches.  Everton’s remaining matches are favorable, especially wtih Burnley, West Ham, and Swansea City in their next four.  Jagielka deserves to be more than 55% owned at this point.

Jesus Navas – Manchester City, Midfielder, Age 31, 43% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 3 Points (3.0 Avg. – 1 Game)

Gameweeks 29-32: 46.5 Points (15.5 Avg. – 3 Games)

Upcoming Games: @SOU, MUN, @MID, CRY

Advice: Jesus Navas has featured at right back for Manchester City over their last three matches.  Over that span Navas has recorded one assist, six key passes, six successful crosses, and six successful take ons.  Navas is worth an add and should be in your starting XI if he is starting at right back for Manchester City.

Maya Yoshida – Southampton, Defender, Age 28, 17% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 22.75 (11.38 Avg. – 2 Games)

Gameweeks 29-32: 49.25 Points (12.31 Avg.)

Upcoming Games: MCI, @CHE, HUL, @LIV

Advice: Over his last three games Maya Yoshida has recorded one goal, nine aerials won, and 23 clearances.  Yoshida has three games of 10 or more points over his last five matches.  Southampton have two double gameweeks over the final six weeks.  Yoshida should continue to get forward versus lower tier teams and rack up clearances versus better teams.

Cheikhou Kouyate – West Ham, Midfielder, Age 27, 57% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 19 Points (4.75 Avg.)

Gameweeks 29-32: 48 Points (12.0 Avg.)

Upcoming Games: @SUN, EVE, @STK, TOT

Advice: Cheikhou Kouyate has tallied one goal, 17 interceptions, and 10 aerials won over his last four matches.  Over their next four matches West Ham have their two toughest matchups at home (Everton and Tottenham), and Sunderland and Stoke City on the road.  Kouyate is a solid replacement for Matic or Fernandinho.

Four Down:

Gary Cahill – Chelsea, Defender, Age 31, 93% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 16.25 Points (5.42 Avg.)

Gameweeks 29-32: 31.75 Points (7.94 Avg.)

Upcoming Games: @MUN, SOU, @EVE, MID

Advice: Chelsea have not recorded a clean sheet over their last nine matches, which has greatly reduced Gary Cahill’s fantasy production.  Chelsea’s upcoming matches include tough road games at Manchester United, Everton, and West Brom.  Ryan Bertrand and Cedric Soares with two double gameweeks are better options, whether you can add them via free agency or swap Cahill for one of them straight up.

Diego Costa – Chelsea, Forward, Age 28, 99% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 16.25 Points (5.42 Avg.)

Gameweeks 29-32: 31.75 Points (7.94 Avg.)

Upcoming Games: @MUN, SOU, @EVE, MID

Advice: Diego Costa has failed to score a goal during his last four matches.  Costa had two assists in GW32, but only managed 14.5 points.  With only six games left I suggest trading Costa for a package deal that includes players who will benefit from double gameweeks.  Costa for Christian Benteke (7 games left) and one of the following – Ander Herrera, Mesut Ozil, or Nathan Redmond (all who have 8 games left) would be a nice return.

Etienne Capoue – Watford, Midfielder, Age 28, 92% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 15 Points (5.0 Avg. – 3 Games)

Gameweeks 29-32: 19 Points (6.33 Avg. – 3 Games)

Upcoming Games: SWA, @HUL, LIV, @LEI

Advice: Etienne Capoue has failed to score a goal and has managed just one assist over his last 18 appearances.  I have no idea why he is currently 92% owned.  During that same span Capoue has registered double digit fantasy points in a mere three matches.  After playing Swansea City, Hull City, Liverpool, and Leicester City the Hornets will finish their season at Everton and home versus Manchester City.  James Ward-Prowse, Jesse Lingard, and Granit Xhaka are all less than 50% owned and would be better options going forward as they each have double gameweeks over the final run of fixtures.

Ben Foster – West Brom, Goalkeeper, Age 34, 78% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 5 Points (1.25 Avg.)

Gameweeks 29-32: 14.75 Points (3.68 Avg.)

Upcoming Games: LIV, LEI, @BRN, CHE

Advice: Ben Foster has registered two clean sheets over his last nine appearances while averaging 1.5 saves per game.  Quite the step down from the numbers we were seeing earlier in the year.  West Brom have a tough schedule going forward as they face Liverpool, Leicester City, and Chelsea at home and are away to Burnley.  If you are a Foster owner I would suggest dropping him and streaming players such as Wayne Hennessy, Eldin Jakupovic, Fraser Forster, and Lukaz Fabianski based on matchups.

Two to Watch:

Kieran Trippier – Tottenham, Defender, Age 26, 12% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 0 Points (No Games)

Gameweeks 29-32: 41.5 Points (20.75 Avg. – 2 Games)

Upcoming Games: BOU, @CRY, ARS, @WHU

Advice: Playing time is a concern for Kieran Trippier, but he deserves to be in your starting lineup when he starts.  In three starts for Tottenham this year Trippier has totaled 66 points (22.0 Avg.)  Over his last two starts Trippier has accumulated one assist, six key passes, and three successful crosses.  If there is room on your bench then add Trippier and check Tottenham’s lineup each weekend before kickoff.

Luke Shaw – Manchester United, Defender, Age 21, 60% Owned

Gameweeks 25-28: 8.75 Points (8.75 Avg. – 1 Game)

Gameweeks 29-32: 34.75 Points (17.38 Avg. – 2 Games)

Upcoming Games: CHE, @BRN, SWA, @ARS

Advice: It is difficult to predict what Jose Mourinho is going to do with his lineup each week, but when Luke Shaw gets the opportunity he takes advantage of it.  Over Shaw’s last two matches he has accumulated two assists, four key passes, and seven clearances.  Like Trippier, Shaw is a player that you should have on your bench…if he starts for Manchester United then he should be starting for you.
