Plotlines from the group stage of the Champions League continue to draw gasps and the implications for #EPL are many. Real Madrid were undone by Spurs, suffering their worst European defeat in nearly a decade; Guardiola and Sarri swapped spit some more but City’s players wore the pants at Stadio San Paolo; German clubs can’t do anything right, nevermind their good fortune in Glasgow; and for all of Conte’s stability in one competition last year, Chelsea’s recent lineup volatility combined with rampant positional indiscipline finds the Blues looking vulnerable with Mourinho readying his dullest daggers.

Let’s get started.

  • Postscript from GW10: Pascal Gross notched a couple completed crosses to complement yet another assist and Robbie Brady actually managed a very serviceable FPL performance despite failing to assist or score a goal. He’s away to Southampton this weekend so he’s still on thin ice!
  • Studs: As a nod to Togga’s scoring format, my top 20 midfielders now include four box-to-box and/or central holding midfielders with plenty of defensive guile and exceptional work rates. Fernandinho, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Aarons Ramsey & Mooy: take a bow. And don’t make me look bad in GW11.
  • Duds: Thus far, Choupo-Moting had one remarkable and one fairly decent performance. The rest of his season’s points output, in descending order: 9, 8.5, 6, 4, 3.5, 3.5, 3, 2. I can’t imagine any league with 10 or more teams where there aren’t far better free agent options available. E.g. Tom Cleverley, Yohan Cabaye, Steven Davis.

This season, our weekly fantasy Premier League ranks are a one-man affair, with Benji Wade taking over the mantle. You can find him on Twitter: .

  • Gorkem

Ah idk about Ben Davies, Rose might get a chance against the weak Crystal Palace

  • If that happens, swap Davies for Rose, but probably drops 10 or so spots in the ranks.
